Quick Hot Sausage and Peppers
This easy recipe can be transformed into pasta or sandwiches, too!
- 8 links fresh Italian sausage (4 oz, each)
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce (26 oz)
- 2 green bell peppers, seeded and sliced into strips
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic
Place sausage links in large skillet over medium heat. Pour 1 cup water over sausages and place cover over skillet. Let cook about 10 minutes until some of the grease has boiled out of the meat and the pan is almost dry.
Add green peppers, onion slices and garlic clove to skillet and let begin to cook, but not brown. Pour sauce over all and replace cover and let cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until sausage is well cooked and tender. Stir contents several times to prevent burning.
Sausage may be served over rice, tossed with cooked pasta and marinara sauce, or in toasted hoagie buns topped with mozzarella cheese and broiled until melted and browned. Makes 8 servings. Enjoy!
Note: These sausages can be made in a crockpot. Just follow instruction 1, then place everything into a crockpot and let cook on low for 6 hours. It is truly delicious!
